The rural village of Wennington borders on to the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, meaning it is a great spot for walking, cycling, birdwatching, star gazing, fishing and you can take a thrill-seeking adventure with the nearby gliding, paragliding, and even hot air ballooning opportunities. Take a short drive into the village of Bentham, which has a shop for any of your self-catering needs, an inviting pub that serves food, a train station, a golf club, as well as a fish and chip shop, and a Chinese takeaway. Also nearby is Ingleton which boasts The Waterfall Walk, the White Scar Caves to explore, and even an open-air heated swimming pool in the summer months, and ample bars and eateries for a night out. The market town of Kirkby Lonsdale is also within driving distance and boasts attractive streets, a wonderful market every Thursday where you can pick up some local produce, quaint independent shops scattered around, the must-see Devil's Bridge, and the historical Radical Steps which leads to great views of Yorkshire Dales National Park. Also in the area, you can tackle one of the famous three peaks in the North Yorkshire Moors, enjoy watersports at Lake Windermere, or relax on Morecambe seafront.
